Call Of Duty Games, Way More Interesting, Maybe A Little Less Exciting
What is the problem with Call of Duty games? Not much. But there is a but. And when there is a but there is something wrong. The way I see it MW3 is way too short. You can be done it in around 20 hours, probably less.
Skyrim, for example is really an FPS game when you biol it down, combined of course with RPG, but you will play many more hours, around 200 of them on just the main story line.
And because of its Creation engine, which has a very advanced AI that gives randomness like real life to NPCs, and its free roaming capability, you will have thousands of hours of game-play waiting for you.
Plus, no matter where you go, there is always something to do in Skyrim, which has nothing to do with the story line.
Lets be honest. FPS games like Call of Duty games are becoming shorter. With little redesign of the game engine, honestly its a bit of a cash grab. Like all products that see the light of incredible success the Modern Warfare series is more about putting the product out as quickly as you can, it was not long ago the Black OPs appeared. Success has forced the developers to think more about money before the player. Modern Warfare 3 is not much different from its predecessor?
The makers of Skyrim have put out a truly innovative game building upon its predecessor: Oblivion. This was not done for Modern Warfare 3, why? I’ll tell you why
What are the two kinds of video games that all games fit into? Islands games and Alley games are the categories. Call of Duty games are alley games. The boundaries in alley games are close, very close. In this case the player is led down a certain constrained path.
Boundaries are not immediately perceptible in Island games, and are often referred to as sandbox games, popular for RPGs. It will take you a long time to walk from one bounder to the other, and bounders are natural in nature usually a mountain.
What’s my point? Its just an idea, but what if FPS games were created like Island games? This would give the player a lot more play time. It is obvious that multi-player and survival mode, is were the hours of play time can be found in Call of Duty.
But what I’m getting at is having an FPS game that empowers the player more, so the player can determine the way the game will evolve. Call it a cross-genre fps. Does it have to be RPG? No, but we should be able to build on your combat skills.
Hold on. I love MW 2 and 3, and I know that alley style games heighten the drama of the game play. FPS alley style is fun. I just think it is time to start thinking outside the box for once, before we have to fork out another 70 dollars.
In the end I prefer to play Skyrim, as its combat mode is still FPS. I would suggest you do get the Call of Duty games, and make sure you get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and 3. They are a lot of fun
