My Exercise Regimen Involved Playing Video Games
For many years I struggled with my weight. There have been a few attempts to lose the fat but I was not able to do it. For a while I paid to be a member of a fitness club, but did not keep it up. I never bothered to go to the gym. It seemed that I would just have to accept the fact that I was fat and could not change it. But at some point I found the answer.
I was reading an article and in the article was a advertisement for how to get a free xbox 360 and rather than ignoring it like I normally would I checked it out, filled out the information and a month or so later was notified that I had won and I would be receiving my new Xbox in just a short while so I decided that I would look into the best ways for me to use this new system so that I could get the most out of my unexpected windfall.
When I was growing up I spent my fair share of time in arcades and with a gaming system at home, but now I new it was different. I was more involved with this new system. The way I moved controlled the action on the screen. It required more than fast thumbs to succeed with this system. Playing the games became a form of exercise for me. The idea came to me that it might be possible for me to lose weight if I incorporated the gaming into the plan. Many games are being sold for this purpose and I was able to go through a wide selection until I found one I liked.
My plan involved more than gaming. I started to do some research on the right way to lose weight. I watched the Biggest Loser and saw people change their lives and drop a lot of weight. Knowing that others have been successful made me want to succeed also. My research showed that by eating right and working out a person can get fit and trim. I decided to make it work for me too.
This time I was going to start to use all of the tools that I had acquired as time has passed by. I no longer had the reasons for not exercising that I had before because of the game system I got. It did not matter whether it was sunny or rainy, or hot, or cold if I needed to work out. It was going to be done in the comfort of my own living room. At the end of the day I would use my computer to record many different things about my plan. I wrote my thoughts and feelings in this journal. In the computer, I wrote what I hoped to accomplish. I also recorded the results of what I did. This was done in addition to what the fitness game did for me.
Because it was a video game other members of my family were willing to join me. My young son loved to exercise with me and always seemed to have the energy to do more. My wife became my workout partner. We were going to get healthy as a family.
The next step we took was to find ways to eat food that would help us get healthier and did not have any trouble finding this information. Research turned up healthy alternatives to many things that we enjoyed. We wrote down our meal plans in advance to keep track of it. I think seeing it on a screen stopped me from my snacking habit. Processed foods and fast food restaurants became a thing that we used to do and were replaced with healthy choices.
Many months have passed since we received our kinect system and it has been great as I have taken off much of my extra weight and kept it off and because the system was free and we did not spend much on games, and due to the fact that eating healthier was actually cheaper, we are in better financial shape as well. I have never been happier.
