Interceptions and fumbles sometimes occur outside the vision of certain players. If players on one team don’t realize they now have possession of the ball, this can make for some pretty funny moments. Ocassionally, during the course of a football game, an offensive player loses control of the football and gravity seems on hold as players contort their bodies in all directions in efforts to gain control of it. Simply defined, a fumble occurs when the player in control of the football loses that control. It bounces out of the player’s hands and hits the ground. It now is considered a loose ball, and whoever picks up the ball gets possession of it and a chance to score. To the onlooker, the game might appear out of control as players dive, duck, and scramble to control the loose ball.

It’s not uncommon for players pursuing possession of fumbles to kick the ball, sending it in unexpected trajectories. The scramble can become extremely humorous as control of the loose ball passes from players on one team to those of the other team.

The ball has the potential to look as if it has a life of its own, defying as many as seven different players who touch it to gain control of a difficult fumble.
Another common blooper comes when the ball is intercepted, but players on the team that initially passed the football don’t realize it and continue acting as if nothing happened. Sometimes, one player accidentally can tackle one of his own teammates thinking it’s a player on the other team who has the ball. Such isolated incidents might prove humorous to spectators, yet be sources of aggravation to the players themselves. These types of chaotic bloopers make football funny in addition to making it exciting to watch.
