Call Of Duty Games No Matter Where You Go There Is Always Something To Do
What might be wrong with Call of Duty games? Not much. But there is a but. And when there is a but there is something wrong. The way I see it MW3 is way too short. If you think about MW 3 is very expensive compared to the game play, which can be done it around 14 hours.
Take Skyrim into account. It is essentially an FPS game combined with RPG. Now it is likely that it will take you about 200 hours to go through just the main quest line, side lines not included.
And because of its free roaming capability, and advanced AI that gives real life and randomness to NPCs, you have thousands of hours of game play waiting for you, and it is a bit cheaper than Call of Duty games.
Plus, no matter where you go, there is always something to do in Skyrim, which has nothing to do with the story line.
Lets be honest. FPS games like Call of Duty games are becoming shorter. With little redesign of the game engine, honestly its a bit of a cash grab. I think the phenomenal success of the Modern Warfare series has pushed the developers to think more about money than the player. Modern Warfare 3 is not much different from its predecessor?
Not so for Skyrim! No they care about their players. They have put out a truly innovative game building upon its predecessor: Oblivion. For MW3 why wasn't this done? I think I know why.
First off there are two kinds of games. Islands games and Alley games are the categories. The Call of Duty games, or FPS, are almost always Alley games. In an alley game the player is led down a certain constrained path, where game boundaries are usually right beside you.
Most RPG games are Island games, this is where the boundaries are not immediately perceptible. You could walk all day and not really know where one boundary begins and another one ends.
What’s my point? I think it would be really cool if future games like MW were created like an Island game, to give the player more play time hours. It is obvious that multi-player and survival mode, is were the hours of play time can be found in Call of Duty.
Making an FPS like this would give the player the power to determine the way the game will evolve. Maybe you could call it a cross-genre RPS. Expanding the boundaries would be great, and it doesn't have to be RPG, but you would be able to build on your combat skills.
But wait, do not read this the wrong way. I know that alley style games heighten the drama of the game play, and I love MW 2 and 3. FPS alley style is fun. For once, it is time to start thinking outside the box.
Since the combat is still FPS, I like to play Skyrim. But still get the Call of Duty games, they are a lot of fun, and make sure you get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and 3.
